This initiative is being carried out with the sincere guidance and enthusiastic support of SDPO Achabal, Mr. Basharat Hussain, whose unwavering commitment, proactive approach, and visionary leadership have played a pivotal role in mobilizing institutions and students towards the goal of a drug-free society.

Objective:

To empower and involve students, teachers, and community members as "Awareness Yodhas" (Warriors) in the fight against drug abuse by creating a strong awareness network in every school under Sub Division Achabal.

Key Highlights of the Programme:

1.    Formation of Awareness Yodha Teams:

Ø  Each institution will identify 5–10 active students and 1–2 motivated teachers as Awareness Yodhas.

Ø  Teams will be trained and mentored to carry out awareness activities.

2.    Training & Orientation Sessions:

Ø  Sessions on understanding drug abuse, its psychological and social impact, and ways to resist peer pressure.

Ø  Resource persons: Health professionals, counselors, police personnel, and civil society activists.

3.    School-Level Activities by Awareness Yodhas:

Ø  Morning Assemblies: Weekly anti-drug messages by Yodhas.

Ø  Wall Magazines / Bulletin Boards: Dedicated space for drug awareness content.

Ø  Role Plays / Skits / Debates / Slogans: Performed and led by Awareness Yodha teams.

Ø  Peer Counseling & Support Circles: Safe spaces to discuss concerns confidentially.

4.    Awareness Marches and Rallies:

Ø  Organized by Yodhas within villages and towns under the supervision of school heads and nodal officers.

5.    Inter-School Competitions:

Ø  Poster-making, essay writing, and quiz competitions focused on drug abuse prevention.

Ø  Hosted on rotation by different schools.

6.    Social Media Advocacy (Optional):

Ø  Digital campaigns using posters, reels, and videos made by students under teacher guidance.

Monitoring & Supervision:

  • School Level Nodal Officer and Yodha Coordinators will submit monthly reports.
  • Activities will be monitored by the Education Wing, Sub Division Achabal under the guidance of the Coordinator(s).

The Awareness Yodha Programme aims to make students ambassadors of change, spreading awareness among peers, families, and the broader community to build a drug-free and healthy society.

 

Functions of Awareness Yodhas

The selected Awareness Yodhas (Warriors) from each school shall perform the following duties to promote drug abuse awareness and prevention in their institutions and local communities:

1. Awareness Creation:

  • Spread awareness about the harmful effects of drugs through regular announcements, posters, banners, and speeches.
  • Organize and lead awareness drives in and around school campuses.

2. Role Models for Peers:

  • Lead by example in promoting healthy, drug-free lifestyles.
  • Motivate and guide fellow students to stay away from harmful substances.

3. Conduct of Activities:

  • Take initiative in organizing anti-drug rallies, debates, nukkad nataks (street plays), wall magazines, quiz competitions, and cultural programs focused on the theme of drug prevention.

4. Peer Education & Support:

  • Offer peer-to-peer support and encourage students to open up about stress, anxiety, or drug-related temptations.
  • Identify and sensitively guide at-risk students toward help from teachers or counselors.

5. Coordination with Nodal Officers:

  • Work closely with the School Level Nodal Officer for planning, executing, and reporting activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation of events and participation for official records.

6. Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Observe and report any suspicious activities or behavioral changes to concerned authorities confidentially.
  • Maintain regular updates about campaigns conducted and feedback received.

7. Creative Content Generation:

  • Prepare posters, slogans, messages, and short videos to be displayed or shared during school functions and awareness weeks.

8. Participation in Inter-School Programs:

  • Represent their schools in inter-school awareness activities, competitions, and training sessions organized under the campaign.

 

Awareness Yodhas are the torchbearers of a social revolution. Their active role is crucial in shaping a drug-free and morally strong student community in Sub Division Achabal.
